BCAE Events 2026

The Bangladesh Canada Association of Edmonton (BCAE) is excited to participate as the Bangladesh Pavilion at the 2026 Edmonton Heritage Festival, one of Canada's largest multicultural celebrations.

We invite enthusiastic community members to join us as volunteers and help showcase the rich culture, traditions, cuisine, and hospitality of Bangladesh to thousands of festival visitors.

This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community, meet new people, and be part of one of Edmonton's most celebrated cultural events.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for volunteers to assist with:

•  Welcoming and greeting visitors

•  Food preparation and serving

•  Cashier and token sales

•  Cultural program support

•  Pavilion setup and cleanup

•  General event operations and logistics

Whether you can volunteer for a few hours or throughout the weekend, your support will make a meaningful difference.

Festival Details

 Dates: August 1–3, 2026 (Saturday to Monday)

 Venue: Edmonton Heritage Festival, Hawrelak Park, Edmonton

Complimentary Meals

As part of the event arrangements, complimentary meals and refreshments will be provided to all volunteers during their volunteer shifts.

Despite the hot weather and the heat warning issued for the day, your enthusiasm, energy, and cheerful participation made the picnic a tremendous success.

A special thank you goes to our dedicated volunteers, who worked tirelessly throughout the day. From preparing and cooking our delicious lunch on-site—a cherished tradition of Bangladeshi picnics—to organizing activities and ensuring everything ran smoothly, your commitment and hard work made the event truly memorable.

We hope everyone enjoyed the variety of activities throughout the day, including:

On behalf of the Bangladesh Canada Association of Edmonton (BCAE), we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful completion of the Bangladesh Consular Services held in Edmonton on July 11–12, 2026, provided by the Bangladesh Consulate General, Toronto.

Over the two-day outreach, a total of 223 consular services were provided to members of our community, including:

83 e-Passports

125 No Visa Required (NVR) 

11 Attestations

2 Powers of Attorney

2 Birth Registration

These numbers reflect the importance of bringing consular services closer to our community and the tremendous benefit such outreach provides to Bangladeshi Canadians in Edmonton and surrounding areas.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the dedicated officers from the Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto for their professionalism, efficiency, and commitment throughout the two-day event. Their hard work and courteous service were greatly appreciated by all attendees.

We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to our volunteers, who worked tirelessly from early morning until late at night over both days. Whether assisting with registration, managing queues, guiding attendees, supporting the consular officials, or helping behind the scenes, your dedication, patience, and willingness to serve made this event possible. Community service thrives because of volunteers like you. BCAE EC 2026 will be providing certificates to all volunteers for their services. 

Finally, we sincerely thank all community members who attended the event. Your patience, cooperation, and understanding throughout the process contributed greatly to the smooth operation of the outreach. We appreciate the trust you place in BCAE and thank you for working together with us to make this important initiative a success. Together, we demonstrated what can be achieved when a community comes together in the spirit of service and cooperation. We look forward to continuing to serve our community through similar initiatives in the future.

The Mother's day event became a beautiful and memorable gathering because of the warmth, enthusiasm, and active participation of our community members. It was truly inspiring to see different generations come together to celebrate and honor mothers.

The program featured:
• Songs and poem recitations by community members
• Heartfelt talks from senior and junior moms
• Children’s art competition
• Raffle draw and gift card distribution for children
• Special cake-cutting ceremony by our respected senior mothers

The joy and energy throughout the event reflected the strength and unity of our community.

Your thoughtful gifts brought immense joy to the mothers who attended. We would like to thank all performers, volunteers, participants, and attendees whose contributions helped create such a warm and meaningful celebration. We also express our special appreciation to Ms. Jamila Jabeen Khan for taking the lead role in organizing and coordinating the program. Her dedication and hard work played a major role in making the event successful. To all mothers—thank you for your endless love, sacrifice, strength, and guidance. We are pleased to share that the BCAE Tax Clinic, held on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the Bangladesh Center, was successfully completed, reaching many community members with much-needed support.

This initiative was organized to provide accessible assistance and ease the tax filing process for our community members. We are grateful to everyone who participated and made this effort meaningful.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all attendees for their trust and cooperation throughout the clinic.

A very special thank you goes to Mr. Edward Mondol, whose generosity and dedication made this initiative possible. By offering his professional accounting services free of charge, he made a significant contribution to our community. His commitment to service is truly commendable and deeply appreciated.

We also thank all volunteers and organizers who worked behind the scenes to ensure the clinic ran smoothly.

Initiatives like this reflect the strength of our community when we come together to support one another.

The event arraned by BCAE was special—not simply because it included our organization’s Special General Body Meeting, but because we made a conscious effort to bring forward two very important groups within our community:

1. Our Bangla School and our children—who are growing up here, yet striving to stay connected to their roots, language, and heritage.

2. Our local performers—who, throughout the year, dedicate their own time and effort to preserving Bangla language and culture.

As an association, we host only a limited number of events each year. If we do not provide a platform to these groups during these opportunities, and instead rely solely on well-known artists from outside, the event may become more glamorous—but we would fall short of our responsibility as a community organization.

The current Executive Committee made a deliberate decision to prioritize children and local performers. We sincerely hope that you respect this vision and continue to support our efforts.

We are delighted to share that the event was a great success, made possible by the collective efforts of our community. At the same time, we acknowledge that there is always room for improvement, and we are committed to learning and doing even better in the future.

 BCAE Bangla School & Our Children

One of our key objectives was to highlight and uplift our Bangla School and its students. Our children participated in singing, dancing, and art competitions with great enthusiasm and talent.

Due to time constraints, we regret that prizes could not be distributed during the event. These gift cards for kids will be presented at our upcoming Mother’s Day Celebration.

A heartfelt thank you to all the children for their wonderful performances, and special appreciation to Music Teacher Sabita Chowdhury for her dedication and guidance.

On behalf of the BCAE Executive Committee 2026, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the BCAE Iftar Event 2026, held on March 7, 2026.

First and foremost, we sincerely thank all community members and families who attended the event. Your presence made the gathering warm, meaningful, and truly reflective of the spirit of Ramadan.

In collaboration with the Bangladeshi Students Association at the University of Alberta (BSAUA), BCAE organized a Blood Donation Program at Canadian Blood Services, Edmonton.

The International and Heritage Languages Association (IHLA) hosted this important event at West Meadows Baptist Church. BCAE Bangla School proudly participated alongside other heritage language schools.

We express our sincere gratitude to IHLA for their support and for providing us the opportunity to participate in this significant celebration.

We were honored to host our flagship Ekushey program at Mill Woods Town Centre with distinguished guests Christina Gray, MLA and Jo-Anne Wright, Councillor, City of Edmonton. 

The program featured speeches from invited guests, speech from BCAE EC, reflections from past Presidents, update on the IMLD Monument Project, and cultural performances from community members. 

We extend special thanks to our respected Past Presidents for their presence and guidance. We also thank Ms. Ulfat Perveen, Ms. Parvin Akter, and Mr. Tauhid Parvez for their spontaneous participation in the cultural performances. 

We thank EC Members Mr. Md. Toihidul Islam and Mr. Kazi Azad for their enormous support. Special thanks to the Cultural Secretary Ms. Saika Alam for her outstanding performance as the Master of Ceremonies, a singer, and a reciter.
