BCAE Annual General Meeting 2023
January 27, 2024
Respected Voting Members of BCAE: Following the Article 14.01 of BCAE Bylaws, the Executive Committee 2023 (EC 2023) is hereby announcing that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2023 of Bangladesh Canada Association of Edmonton (BCAE) will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Please mark your calendar for the event. This will be an in-person meeting to be held at Bangladesh Center, 4271 95 St, Edmonton, AB T6E 5R6.
The EC 2023 also invites all of our voting members to submit any agenda item(s) to be considered for the AGM 2023. Please send any agenda items on or before December 22, 2023 (Friday) via email: ec@bcae.ca
Bangladesh Victory Day & BCAE Recognition Night 2023
December 16, 2023
BCAE organized Bangladesh Victory Day & BCAE Recognition Night 2023 on 16 December 2023 to celebrate the Victory Day of Bangladesh and recognizing the contribution of our community volunteers in 2023.
The event included performances from Bangla School students as well as community members. There was a special segment recognizing Freedom Fighter Mokbul Hossain. Also, there was a surprise segment where BCAE past presidents and their spouses attending the event were invited to the stage to share the memories during their tenure. The special attraction of the event was the stage drama "Kobor'' (কবর). The most exciting part was the distribution of the Certificates of Recognition to our sponsors/donors and volunteers recognizing their contribution to BCAE in 2023.

Bangladesh Consular Service 2023
November 11-12, 2023
BCAE worked closely with Bangladesh High Commission Ottawa to organize consular services to the Bangladeshi community in Edmonton on November 11 and November 12, 2023. The High Commission provided around 400 consular services, including new MRP passports, renewal/re-issue of passports, no visa required (NVR) sticker, birth certificate registrations, power of attorney, and attestations during the two-day event.
We would like to convey our deepest gratitude to the young, energetic and friendly consular service team led by Counsellor Ms. Sharmin Sultana and First Secretary and Head of Chancery Mr. Hasan Al Bashar Abul Ulayee. We are really amazed by their patience and respectful communication to the people. We believe the High Commission will continue to provide such indispensable services to our community members. We want to thank BCAE members and community members for their patience and cooperation which helped us organize this event successfully.
BCAE Fall Festival & Puja 2023

Bangladesh Canada Association of Edmonton (BCAE) is organized a grand cultural event (Fall Festival and Puja) to celebrate the Fall Season and Puja. The main attraction of this event was the Live Concert of Protic Hasan.
Bangladesh Center Founding Donor Appreciation Party

BCAE successfully organized Bangladesh Center Founding Donor Appreciation Party on October 7, 2023. BCAE would like to take this opportunity to thank all donors, contributors, volunteers for their dedication and hard work.
BCAE Senior Get Together 2023
September 24, 2023
BCAE successfully organized BCAE Senior Get Together 2023 on September 24, 2023. The event included a successful engagement to plan for senior involvement and improve their mental health. The following community members were volunteered to develop some initial planning for the next steps:

We want to thank all senior members of our community and their families who attended the event. Special thanks Community Facility Committee (CFC) members for attending the event for a fruitful discussion on using the Bangladesh Center for senior regular get together.
Ateet (Fashion House by Dalia) provided the raffle draw gifts for the seniors. Our sincere thanks to Ms. Shamima Shahid Dalia for her contribution.
BCAE Volunteer Appretiation Party 2023

BCAE held it's Heritage Festival Volunteer Appreciation Party on August 13, 2023 at the Bangladesh Center. BCAE would like to extend sincere thanks to all of our volunteers for their enormous efforts into the festival. Without the help of our volunteers we wouldn't be able to organize such an event.
BCAE Heritage Festival 2023
August 5-7, 2023
BCAE represented Bangladesh in the Edmonton Heritage Festival 2023. The 3-day long festival (August 5-7) was an opportunity to sample delicious food, see creative performances, and celebrate Canada's multiculturalism. Bangladesh Pavilion was decorated with green color, a banner showcasing identities of Bangladesh and delicious food posters. We started our journey with the National Anthem. In addition to selling traditional Bangladeshi foods, our pavilion played Bangla music and our community members danced with the crowd. We also extended the joy of the festival to our visitors: they joined us for food, to learn Bangla language, and to dance to Bangla music.
BCAE would like to extend sincere thanks to all of our volunteers for their enormous efforts into the festival. Without the help of our volunteers we wouldn't be able to organize such an event.
BCAE Picnic 2023

We are delighted to share with you the successful completion of BCAE Picnic on July 8, 2023 at Wabamun Lake Provincial Park. It was a day full of fun and warm social gathering. We thank all BCAE members who attended the event.

Father's Day 2023

We are delighted to share with you the successful completion of BCAE Father's Day celebration 2023. The first part of the event, celebration of Father's Day, was held on June 18, 2023 at the Bangladesh Center. Because of the field condition due to adverse weather, the football (soccer) match between BCAE and BSAUA was rescheduled on June 22, 2023 at the Millwoods Park. We want to congratulate BSAUA for being the champion and BCAE for becoming the runner-up of the BCAE vs BSAUA Father's Day Soccer Match 2023.

Mother's Day 2023

We are delighted to share with you the successful completion of BCAE Mother's Day event on May 14, 2023. We thank all BCAE members who attended the event. Special thanks to the co-sponsors of the event: Dr. Sultana Begum and Dr. Jesmin Akhter.
The event included a potluck lunch from community members where BCAE provided snacks, supplementary lunch items, desserts and drinks. The event also included distributing Mother's Day cards, special prayers for mothers, raffle draws, children's artwork, cutting Mother's Day cake, and cultural showcases from our community members.

Boishakh & Eid (বৈশাখ ও ঈদ)

We are delighted to share with you the successful completion of BCAE Boisakh and Eid event on April 29, 2023. We thank all BCAE members and community members who attended the event. The event included Mongol Shovajatra, Bangla School students' performances, solo and group performances (song, dance, fashion show, recitation), comedy drama, and Band Show. There were lots of food, clothing and service stalls at the venue as well. Sunlife Financial and Link Insurance provide raffle prizes at the event.

Iftar 2023
April 9, 2023
BCAE organized BCAE Iftar 2023 on April 9, 2023. We thank all BCAE members, BSAUA members, and community members who attended this event. The event included Quran recitation, Hamd-e-elahi, Nat-e-rasul, Islamic lecture, and special dua. We provided iftar and dinner packs to all the participants.
BCAE sincerely thank all donors and volunteers without whom it would never have been possible to organize this event.
স্মৃতিতে '৭১ (Celebration of Bangladesh Independence Day-Online)

BCAE organized an online event on 26 March 2023 (স্মৃতিতে '৭১) to celebrate the Independence Day of Bangladesh. The event included remembrance, discussions and broadcasting of video clips from BCAE Archives on the theme of Independence Day. The online event was live streamed via BCAE Official Facebook and YouTube Accounts.
BCAE Youth Night 2023
March 11, 2023
Bangladesh Canada Association of Edmonton organized "BCAE Youth Night 2023" on March 11 at Bangladesh Center to enhance youth participation in BCAE events and initiatives. About thirty youths attended the event. It was a fun night with games, music, quiz, movie and karaoke!
Kumon Math and Reading Centre - Miller Crossing and UCMAS Ellerslie & UCMAS Millwoods co-sponsored the event. BCAE would like to convey sincere thanks to Ms. Nusrat Aireen and Ms. Rezwana Huq for their support to our community. BCAE also acknowledge the support from all parents.
Bangla School Participation at IHLA International Mother Language Day 2023 Event
February 25, 2023
BCAE Bangla School participated in the IHLA (International Heritage and Language Association) International Mother Language Day Celebration 2023 at the Polish Center in Edmonton. This the first time BCAE Bangla School participated in this broader platform.
BCAE Bangla School's performance was "Our Pride, Our Hope, Our Language -Bangla." Bangla School students performed a song written during the Language Movement, and recited a poem about Bangla Language. The song expresses the mourning for the sacrifice of our language martyrs. The poem represents our love and pride for Bangla language.
BCAE-BSAUA Blood Donation Program 2023

BCAE successfully organized BCAE-BSAUA Blood Donation Program on February 25, 2023 in collaboration with BSAUA. BCAE conveys sincere thanks to all donors for coming forward and donating blood for this cause. Special thanks to 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗘𝗱𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻, for making the entire process so much smoother this year. BCAE also expresses gratitude to BSAUA for their collaboration and cooperation.

International Mother Language Day 2023

BCAE has successfully organized the International Mother language Day 2023 at the City Hall on February 21, 2023. Over 100 people attended the event.
We would like to express gratitude to the Guests of Honor, BCAE members, members of BCAE Standing Committees, members of BCAE International Mother Language Monument Committee, community members and participants, members of BSAUA, performers, volunteers, and City of Edmonton staff to make this a widely successful event.
The event was featured on CTV Edmonton, CBC Edmonton and Channel I (Bangladesh) at prime news time
EC Induction and Meet & Greet 2023

BCAE executive committee organized a Meet and Greet with past presidents of BCAE at Bangladesh Center. The event focused on BCAE history, committees, and functions as well as a round table discussion on BCAE's path forward.
