Greetings on Bangladesh Independence Day 2023
The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada
His Excellency Dr. Khalilur Rahman, High Commissioner
High Commission for Bangladesh in Canada
The Honourable Danielle Smith, Premier of Alberta
His Worship Mayor Amarjeet Sohi, Mayor of Edmonton
Mr. Matt Jeneroux - Member of Parliament - Edmonton Riverbend
Ms. Christina Gray, MLA for Edmonton-Millwoods
Mr. Jasvir Deol, MLA for Edmonton-Meadow
On behalf of the Alberta NDP Caucus, it is my pleasure to wish you all a very Happy Independence Day. The Bangladeshi community’s contributions to Alberta are well documented. Just last month I had the honour of attending the International Mother language Day event at City Hall, which was successfully organized by the Bangladesh Canada Association of Edmonton.
As the Official Opposition Critic for Multiculturalism and MLA for Edmonton-Meadows, I believe each and every community and ethnicity in Alberta strengthens our social and cultural fabric, and days like this add vibrancy to our communities.
Whether you have lived in Alberta all your life or have recently made our province your home, we know it is important for you and your children to stay in touch with your heritage and feel connected to your roots.
Once again, I and my NDP Caucus wish you a very happy Independence Day.
-Jasvir Deol, MLA for Edmonton-Meadows and Official Opposition Critic for Multiculturalism
