President's Message

Honorable members of the Bangladesh Canada Association of Edmonton (BCAE) have given me the responsibilities of leading the executive committee 2021 for the purpose of promoting Bangladeshi culture, arts, heritage, and social values. It is a great honour and privilege for me to serve you, the Bangladeshi Canadians and Canadian Bangladeshis in Edmonton, as the president of BCAE. I thank you all for keeping confidence and trust in my team to lead BCAE in 2021. Established in 1979, BCAE has now entered its 42nd year. Over the past 41 years, the organization has evolved, grown, and expanded as one of the largest community organizations in Edmonton, Alberta. Our goal is to maintain the volunteering activities open and transparent.

I would like to begin conveying my best regards and thanks to all past presidents, past executives, volunteers, respectful community members and well-wishers on this continuous success of BCAE. However, achieving the goal of financial sustainability is one of the critical challenges BCAE is facing over the years, and we know that we cannot fix the issue within a year or two. Still, if we all work together with the highest level of integrity and commitment, it is possible. We must start work on to model BCAE as a financially sustainable community organization in the coming days. We, therefore, need a clear vision, realistic planning, dedicated volunteers, and leaders with the highest level of integrity, competence, and commitment to achieve this goal.

BCAE has Bangla School to promote Bangla language and music to our next generations. However, we need to work together to make Bangla language and music programs more functional and attractive. We need to enhance the relationship between the Bangla School Committee and community members to identify the existing challenges and to nd ways to overcome those challenges. It is also important that families or parents feel that they have ownership over Bangla school and so they are part of the operation and management of the school.

Furthermore, in the digital era of information, making the BCAE website informative, useful, and attractive is another priority task for us. Delivering program as per the expectations of the community members remains one of the biggest challenges for the BCAE executives, as we observed in the past.

We know together is always better. However, we are facing a critical situation due to COVID-19 Pandemic. We need the mental strength in our mind to overcome this hard time. I am very proud of our many resourceful persons who are capable to contribute their skills, expertise and talents for making the virtual program and sharing each other within our community. We know all of us need to do some volunteering works to make a brighter future-a future with a journey of humanity. Through our collective e􀀁orts of respectful community members, we can deliver our services timely, effectively, and smoothly based on the By-Laws of the BCAE

Sincerely,

Parvin Akter

President of BCAE 2021
